Christopher Reeve, a prominent figure known for portraying Superman, faced a life-altering event on May 27, 1995, when he suffered a spinal cord injury after a fall during an equestrian competition. This tragic incident left him paralyzed from the neck down and confined to a wheelchair, radically changing the course of his life.
Despite the dire prognosis from doctors, Christopher Reeve chose not to give up. Supported by his wife, Dana Morosini, he founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation, later renamed the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, dedicated to spinal cord injury research and advocacy. Alongside Dana, he also established the Reeve-Irvine Research Center, focusing on stem cell research.
