CBS is expanding the NCIS franchise with a prequel series titled “NCIS: Origins,” slated to premiere in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Mark Harmon, who departed from the original series in 2021 after 19 seasons, is set to return as the executive producer and narrator. Joining him in these roles is his son, Sean Harmon. The show will explore the early career of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, depicting his time as a new special agent at the NCIS Camp Pendleton office in 1991. During this period, Gibbs navigates a team led by the NCIS legend Mike Franks.
