Lauren Wasser, a model and activist, defied odds after losing both legs to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) from a tampon in 2012. Raised in California by parents in the industry, she debuted in Vogue at just 4 months old. Despite excelling in basketball and earning a modeling career, TSS changed her life at 24, leading to two leg amputations.

Now, she advocates for safer menstrual products, highlighting the dangers of TSS and advocating for women’s health. Collaborating with Madeline Mosby, she aims to raise awareness about the harmful components of tampons.

Despite challenges, Wasser made a triumphant comeback in modeling, earning the nickname “the girl with the golden legs” and working with renowned brands like Louis Vuitton and Gabriela Hearst. She embraces inclusivity in fashion and promotes diversity, earning her a spot on Harper’s Bazaar’s 2022 Women of the Year cover.
