The show will continue to air in its Monday 9/8c timeslot, maintaining its status as one of the network’s most-watched programs despite a slight dip in linear ratings after moving to Mondays.
Following NCIS, a new series in the franchise will air, but it won’t be NCIS: Hawaii, which remains canceled. Instead, CBS is introducing NCIS: Origins, focusing on a young Gibbs.
While some may worry about potential delays, there’s reassurance that the new season will premiere on time. Last year’s postponement was due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which delayed writing and production. With new contracts in place, writing can resume as normal, and production is expected to start in July.
Fans can look forward to a mid-to-late September premiere, typically shortly after the 20th of the month, marking the return of NCIS in fall 2024.
