The NCIS Season 21 finale brought intense moments with tough choices and rescues. Now, fans eagerly await the team’s return, and the good news is we won’t have to wait long. NCIS Season 22 is officially set to premiere in fall 2024.

CBS has confirmed that the NCIS Season 22 premiere will take place in the fall, following the May Upfronts announcement on May 2. The show will continue to air in its Monday 9/8c timeslot, maintaining its status as one of the network’s most-watched programs despite a slight dip in linear ratings after moving to Mondays.

Following NCIS, a new series in the franchise will air, but it won’t be NCIS: Hawaii, which remains canceled. Instead, CBS is introducing NCIS: Origins, focusing on a young Gibbs.

While some may worry about potential delays, there’s reassurance that the new season will premiere on time. Last year’s postponement was due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which delayed writing and production. With new contracts in place, writing can resume as normal, and production is expected to start in July.

Fans can look forward to a mid-to-late September premiere, typically shortly after the 20th of the month, marking the return of NCIS in fall 2024.
