NCIS showrunner Steve D. Binder has addressed the future of Katrina Lawâs character, Jessica Knight, amid speculation about her departure from the show. In the season 21 finale, Jessica accepted a job at Camp Pendleton, raising rumors about Lawâs exit.
In an interview with TV Line, Binder was asked about Katrinaâs position and whether she would leave in Season 22. âWeâve set something up, and I will point you toward our track record where âYou never know,ââ he stated. âWe want to please, and we believe the audience will be satisfied with where this goes. Sometimes the satisfaction is bittersweet, and sometimes it is pure bliss.â
Jessicaâs acceptance of the Chief REACT Training Officer position caused tension with her boyfriend, Dr. Jimmy Palmer, who was hesitant about a long-distance relationship. This has fueled speculation about Lawâs departure. However, on NCIS, nothing is ever simple.
Katrina Law revealed on Instagram that she will appear in season 22, with her characterâs fate to be decided in the next part. âI guess we have to wait for CBS FALL,â she wrote. âUntil then, keep up with @ncisverse on @paramountplus. Thank you for a lovely season!â
Law also commented on Jessicaâs decision, stating it was right for her character. âShe wants a career, sheâs very ambitious, and to her, a long-distance relationship isnât the end of things,â she told TV Line. âJimmy instinctively knows that Knight needs to do this, and then they can see where they are after.â
The 22nd season of NCIS is slated to premiere in September, though an official date has yet to be revealed. Fans will have to wait a few months to find out what happens next with Jessica Knight.
